Welcome to the Dronfield with Holmesfield Parish Website

Vision

Our Vision is to care for those around us by proclaiming the Good News of Christ in our locality in order to further God's Kingdom.

The Parish

The Parish of Dronfield with Holmesfield is situated in North East Derbyshire between Chesterfield in the South and Sheffield in the north. It takes in the villages of Unstone and Apperknowle in the east and Holmesfield and beyond into the Peak District in the west.
We are a team of five Anglican Churches - St John the Baptist, St Philip and St Andrew in Dronfield St Swithin , Holmesfield and St Mary Unstone. Both St Andrew and St Mary are Local Ecumenical Partnerships sharing with the Methodist and United Reformed Churches and Methodist Church respectively.

The Churches of Dronfield and District are in the forefront of co-operation between Churches of different denominations and have covenanted to share as much as possible with one another. So Churches Together in Dronfield and District consists of the sixteen churches of the area. We can rightly claim that together we are the Church in Dronfield and District.

Much of our work is done through our individual churches but some things are organised centrally. In particular -

Baptisms & Weddings

If you would like more information about these please call in at, or phone the Parish Office, 21 Church Street, Tel 01246 412328 which is open weekdays 9.30 am - 12.30 pm and particularly for the wedding arrangements on Wednesday evenings between 7.00 pm and 8.00 pm. Preparation groups are run in the parish for those who are to be married and parents asking for their children to be baptised.

Funerals

Members of our Staff Team are willing to take funeral services either in Church, at the Cemetery or Crematorium. Normally the Funeral Director will contact us if you live in our parish and we will arrange to visit before the funeral. Once a year, in the autumn, we hold a special service together with the other churches of our area when we invite the families and friends of those for whom we have conducted funerals to remember those they have loved and lost.
